He is the first African-American Photographer to be named Photographer of the Year by the Florida Professional Photographers. Brinson of Brinson Studios was named “Photographer of the Year” at the annual meeting of the Florida Professional Photographers (FPP) held in Orlando, Recognized as one of Florida’s TOP TEN photographers Many years, Mr. Brinson has earned numerous regional and state awards for his photography.In addition to taking the number one spot in the Top Ten competition, Mr. Brinson received the Kodak Gallery Award, The Fujifilm Masterpiece Award, The Becker Award, Best of Show Awards in Commercial and Illustrative categories, 1st Place Abstract, 1st Place Advertising Illustrative with Live Model, The Past Presidents Award, and 2 Distinguished Awards at this years competition. “In Living Color” and “Shadows of the Past” earned perfect scores of 100 in the competition. Perfect scores are rarely awarded and none of Florida’s Professional Photographers at the competition could recall anyone ever receiving two perfect scores. Kodak introduced the Gallery Awards in 1985 as a way to honor and promote the importance and value of excellence in professional photography. The Gallery Awards are judged on a state or regional basis, with winners going on to compete at the national level for a Gallery Elite Award.The Fujifilm Masterpiece Award is administered by state and regional affiliates of the Professional Photographers of America. The Fujifilm Masterpiece Award recognizes photographic excellence in several distinct categories: Wedding, Portrait, Commercial/Industrial, Illustrative/Unclassified, Electronic Imaging and three Art/Tech categories. The Masterpiece Award is the highest honor that any photographic manufacturer awards for photography without regard to the type of products used to create the image.
